Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola was one of the few ones to have been considered by Sir Alex Ferguson to fill in as his successor, but the Spanish jokingly revealed that he might have passed the chance to manage the Red Devils but only due to his misunderstanding of Sir Alex’s thick Scottish accent.
“He invited me to a super restaurant and we spent a very good time together,” said Guardiola in a pre-match conference. “My English is not so good and Sir Alex spoke quickly, so sometimes I have a problem understanding him. That’s why maybe I didn’t understand if I received an offer or not! No, it was a friendly dinner, he was very gentle with me.”
