Italy reached the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup after defeating Japan 4-3 in a thrilling game. Sebastian Giovinco scored the winning goal for Italy in the 86th minute. In the dying seconds of the game, Japan thought they had levelled the score with an effort from close range but the goal was disallowed for offside.
