Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas is by no means a true Arsenal legend. He had a great spell while he was at the Emirates, but was unable to lead the team to major trophies and accolades, but that does not belittle the sheer talent possesed by the current Barcelona midfielder. Many Arsenal fans around the world feel that Cesc ditched Arsenal, when Arsenal needed him the most. While this might be true, there is no football player in the world that would turn down the opportunity to play for the club he supports, let alone the fact that the club is FC Barcelona, a club which at the time was without a doubt the best club in the world. To be able to get the opportunity to play under the likes Xavi, and Iniesta is a prospect that Cesc just couldn’t turn away from at the time.

After the 2010 WC, the speculation that he was on his way to Barcelona was rampant, especially after the “Barcelona shirt incident” that took place during the Cup parade in Spain. Besides that, he came to Arsenal, and played his heart out, he captained the team through a tough season, collectively and personally.

Whenever he got the chance, he did not fail to show off the class that he possessed. Now, most players would have been disappointed at not being able to move away when given a chance like that, considering that Arsenal looked in no shape to win a trophy any time soon, but Cesc stayed at Arsenal for the extra year to try and save the club, to try and win a trophy. After that final 2010-2011 season, it was almost certain that Cesc would be on his way out.

During his three years at Barcelona, Cesc has had ups and downs, but through the rollercoaster ride that was his Barcelona career, Cesc managed to remain one of the leading assisters in Europe. It was evident that Fabregas missed being the main man, the man that the team looked towards to produce a piece of genius. Even during his time at Barcelona, Cesc never let his love for Arsenal fade; he was always tweeting, and posting about Arsenal. He always reaffirmed that he would return to Arsenal one day, and now that time has come. The time has come for Arsenal’s prodigal son to return home.

There is no better time than this transfer window. The instant quality that the Spaniard would bring to the team is unquestionable. He will not need time to settle down, he will not need time to gel with the team, or the style of play. Through the season, us Arsenal fans have been complaining about the lack of depth in our team. Now let me put this in perspective for you guys: Imagine taking off Ramsey and being able to put in Cesc Fabregas, or having central midfield three of Ozil, Ramsey, and Cesc Fabregas.

Time and time again Ramsey has displayed his ability to switch from attack to defense almost instantly, his engine is one of the best around in world football right now. That midfield three is a daunting prospect for any team to face. The creativity and movement would probably be just too much handle for most teams out there. If one of them get injured, on comes Wilshere or Santi Cazorla. Now that’s the definition of depth. The signing of Fabregas would be sheer statement of intent from Arsenal, it would be a signing that strikes fear into the hearts of the biggest teams around Europe.

The rather modest price tag on a midfielder of his quality is yet another incentive for Arsenal to go through with the purchase. Entrusted with a 100 million pound transfer kitty, Wenger would have no trouble signing two other world class player alone with Cesc. We all know that if given the chance Cesc would have no trouble returning to the Emirates, his true home. If I was Arsene Wenger, I would not even think twice about the signing of Cesc Fabregas, he would truly take Arsenal to the next level. Enabling the club to effectively compete for trophies on all fronts. Bring Cesc home. He deserves the chance to play in front of the Arsenal faithful in an Arsenal shirt again.
