Scottie Scheffler is looking forward to winning the 2023 Masters at the Augusta National Golf Course and making history by wearing the green jacket twice in a row. If he defends his title next week, Scheffler will join golf legends Tiger Woods Nick Faldo, and Jack Nicklaus.

Scheffler played at the WGC Dell-Technology Match Play last week and finished in fourth place. He is now looking for a victory at the Masters.

"I have a couple things to work on before Augusta, but definitely plenty of confidence going in," Scheffler said. "I'm not going to think of myself as the defending champion. I'm just going to go out there like I usually do, try and execute shots and play good solid rounds of golf."

Scottie Scheffler defeated Rory McIlroy last year at the Masters. However, McIlroy defeated Scottie in the Match Play ahead of the Masters last week and will now join the Augusta field with more confidence to win the title this year.

The Northern Irish golfer also opened up about The Masters and said:

"Everything feels in really good order. Just work on some things I know I'll need and just make sure I'm ready and rested."

He went on to add:

"I've always known that I have the game to win at this place. It's just a matter of having that game for four days in a row."

It is important to note that Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Nick Faldo are the only golfers in history who have defended their Masters titles.

Nicklaus won the Masters in 1965 and defended it in 1966, while Nick Faldo won the title in 1989 and 1990. Woods clinched the Masters trophy in 2001 and defended it in 2002.

"We're all there to celebrate being past champions" - Scottie Scheffler talks about the Champions dinner

Scottie Scheffler will join all past winners before the Masters at the Champions dinner. However, dinner is a topic of controversy as the LIV Golf players will also be a part of it.

Scheffler spoke about the dinner in his interview with the media and revealed that the dinner will only focus on past champions. He said:

"I'm not quite sure what the vibes will be like, but I think we're all there to celebrate being past champions."

Scheffler added:

"I'm sure we'll put all that other stuff aside and just have a good time together."

LIV golfers Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, and Bryson Koepka will join the Masters Champions dinner. They also spoke about the major tournament and expressed their excitement. Reed said:

"Storylines are going to be obviously LIV versus PGA, but really at the majors, it doesn't matter what tour they're on."

Watson also talked about the Masters and said:

"It's only awkward in the media. I've talked to people that are going to be there... Some guys have already asked me to play some practice rounds."

The 2023 Masters will start on April 6 and run through April 9 at the Augusta National Golf Course.
