Michael Block will play the final round of the 2023 PGA Championship alongside Rory McIlroy. He will begin the game with the four-time major champion at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 21.

On Saturday, Block was notified of the match, and his reaction was unexpected. He told the media in an interview:

“You serious? Wow. That should be fun. We’ll have a good time. Really?”

The video of Block's reaction to pairing up with McIlroy on the last day of the 2023 PGA Championship soon did the rounds on social media.

Fans were quick to react, with one fan saying:

"That's going to be a BIG crowd following them. I'm pulling for him!"
"He was hoping to be paired with a contender," another fan tweeted.

The PGA Championship is heading for the final round and after the third round, Brooks Koepka took the lead with a score of -6. Friday's leader Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners slipped down to second place while Scottie Scheffler finished in fifth place.

Block began the second round with a birdie and finished with four birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey for a total of 70. His performance was consistent throughout the three rounds, and he scored 70 again on Saturday to finish in the top ten.

With 210 strokes, Block tied for eighth place in a two-way tie with Justin Suh.

If he maintains his score and finishes in the top 10 at the 2023 PGA Championship, he will get the largest payday of his career. Michael's career high so far is $75,000, which he won at the 2014 Club Professional National Championship.

Michael Block, who had an interview with announcers Jim Nantz and Scott Van Pelt, told the press about his conversation with Scott:

“It’s just been awesome. Scott came up to me right before I was teeing off today and expressed how much he enjoyed the interview I had with him on 14 the other day. And I looked at my caddie and my friend, and I’m like, ‘This is ridiculous. I don’t even know what I’m doing."

Block stated that he was enjoying playing at Oak Hills and remains unbothered by the outcome. He also stated that he was focused on his game.

“Before you know it, you’re 60 years old and retired and look back at the videos and remember that was the best week of my life. So I’m going to sit back as much as I can with my friends and my family at the house we rented and watch the videos tonight and see all my new followers on Instagram. It’s been crazy,” he expressed.

Michael Block is participating in his seventh major championship, and this is the first time he has made the cut.
