UFC News: Cris Cyborg says people don't respect her like a World Champion

Cris Cyborg felt cheated after she was excluded from the inaugural women’s 145-pound title bout.

When UFC announced their inaugural women’s 145-pound title fight between former Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie, Cris Cyborg felt that the promotion had set up the fight ‘just to disrespect her.’

In the company’s defence, UFC President Dana White has claimed that the fight which is to take place at UFC 208 in Brooklyn on February 11th, was originally offered to Cyborg. White further added that the later declined the fight stating that she wouldn't be able to make the cut by February.

On her part, Cyborg said that she was ready to fight in March as she was recovering from a gruelling weight cut to 140lbs, from her last fight with Lina Länsberg in September.

I cannot do this to my body all the time. I don’t know, maybe something really bad is going to happen to me.

In an interview with ESPN’s Outside the Lines, the Brazilian revealed that she underwent a brutal weight cut of 26 pounds within a time frame of three days! She concluded that she had no other choice than to dehydrate to accomplish the unearthly feat. Cyborg won that fight via TKO in the second round to establish her ultimate dominance.

With everything said and done, Cyborg just wants to be recognised as the world Champion that she had become, prior to her UFC stint.

I would like people to respect me like a world champ. Because I am a world champ, but people I think, don’t know that I am.
