“Flat-out lie” – Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe rip Aaron Rodgers’ ‘all-time blame deflection’

Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to controversy. His outspoken demeanor has often seen him land himself in hot water. Be it his comments on COVID-19 or the time he referred to an NFL MVP voter as a "bum", the QB just can't catch a break.

Recently appearing on the Pat McAfee Show to air his desire to be traded to the New York Jets, the QB made headlines highlighting where things went wrong between him and the Packers front office.

The QB seemed to hint at a change in dynamics between the two parties ever since his emergence from a darkness retreat. Gutekunst, though, while attending the annual NFL owners' meeting, denied the claim and instead painted a different picture of what really transpired:

"As we got out of the offseason or after the season, we had a good conversation and were going to have some follow-up conversations... Our inability to reach him or for him to respond in any way, I think at that point I had to do my job and kind of reach out, understanding that a trade could be possible, see who was interested."

This contradicts what Rodgers had to say while appearing on the Pat McAfee Show completely. Undisputed host Skip Bayless reacted to the matter and said:

"Aaron Rodgers said, ‘I wished that in the beginning of the offseason that there had been a conversation because I love direct communication.’ You wanna talk about lol right there, that’s a big lol."

Co-host Shannon Sharpe too chimed in and had this to say:

"See that’s what you call misspeaking the truth. My grandma said, that’s a lie. That’s a flat-out lie. That ain’t no speaking no truth."

This isn't the first time the QB has been caught lying. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was caught red-handed lying about his vaccination status. The QB, in his defense, had claimed that he indeed underwent an "immunization process" through a holistic doctor.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur opens up on Aaron Rodgers' trade desire

Matt LaFleur, while attending the same meeting as Gutekunst, was asked by reporters about the situation surrounding Aaron Rodgers and the expectations around his replacement Jordan Love.

The coach revealed how the team is adopting a reasonable approach for the QB's first full season as a starter.

He further went on to say:

"I think we're fooling ourselves if we think he's going to go out and perform to a level of the likes of Aaron Rodgers. This guy is a generational, once-in-a-lifetime talent, and I don't think he started in that role. It was a progression."

It's impossible to predict whether or not Love will ever be able to replicate what A-Rod accomplished in Green Bay. But he can be sure to have Lambeau Field's full backing when he takes to the field in 2023.
