All India and South Asia Division-1 tournament: Army, Bombay Gym reach finals

The semifinal stage of the All India and South Asian Rugby tournament saw two exciting contests as Army, Maharashtra State Police, Bombay Gym and Delhi Hurricanes squared off in a quest to reach Sunday’s final.

Army demolish Maharashtra State Police(MSP)

The first semifinal saw the Army decimate the Maharashtra State Police by 58-3, dominating proceedings from the first whistle, scoring three quick tries to put enormous pressure on the MSP.

The set pieces of the Army continued to put pressure by dominating the set pieces and the execution of the backs was perfect as well and they eventually sealed a spot in the summit clash on Sunday.

Bombay beat Delhi in a contrasting second semifinal

If the first semifinal was a one-sided contest, the second one proved to the complete opposite. After a scoreless opening half, which saw both teams fight it out to take the lead.

The second half started off in a similar manner as the first and the first points were scored n the 57th minute of the match when a turnover 22 on he opposition half helped the Bombay Gym take the crucial 5-0 lead. But the yound and spirited Huricanes refused to throw in the towel and kept exertng pressure on the Bombay Gym, even as the latter continued to sustain the lead.

The final 10 minutes of the match proved to be a thrilling battle and despite th Hurricanes giving no respite to the hosts, the Bombay Gym joined the Army in the final on Sunday.
