Last season’s Top 14 finalists Montpellier suffered a blow on Wednesday ahead of their title play-off with Castres as centre Geoffrey Doumayrou was suspended for 20 days meaning he will miss the match.

Doumayrou, scorer of two tries in his 13 appearances this season, received the ban – 10 of which are suspended – from the National Rugby League (LNR) disciplinary commission for a dangerous tackle on Biarritz’s Marcelo Bosch on May 4.

His ban comes into effect from Wednesday and would only see him be eligible to play again on the eve of the May 27 play-off.

However, Montpellier’s star Georgian back row forward Mamuka Gorgodze will be available to play as his 10 day ban for his red card against Toulouse on May 12 will be over long enough before the match to make him available for selection.
