Video: Dave Dennis looking forward to Lions test

New South Wales Waratahs train on Friday (June 14) in Sydney, Australia, ahead of match agains the British and Irish Lions.

Dave Dennis, New South Wales Waratahs captain:“It’s a great opportunity, you know. It’s a two-horse race – it’s not as if we’re not in with a chance. We’re very much going out to win the match and to really represent the state with a lot of pride, and anything can happen, you know. We’re going to give it everything we’ve got and we’ve got a couple of weeks off after, obviously, so there will be nothing left in the tank and we’ll see how we go.”

“I’ve never played in a full house in a Waratahs jersey, so that will be an experience, and the opportunity that you get once in your career to play…for my own state as well…and for a lot of these guys to represent this state against such a strong international side, it’s really special. And the boys are really excited about it you know, there’s no fear and we’ll get stuck in.”

“We can hopefully show them (the Wallabies) what needs to be done to beat them (the Lions) first and foremost, and obviously run them around a bit. It’s a tough tour, they’ve got ten games on the tour, they’ve played a few already and it still hasn’t come up to a test match. So another physical encounter tomorrow night hopefully helps the Wallaby cause, and gives an opportunity to see a few areas where they might be able to expose them in that first test.”
