The inaugural edition of Nellore 5K run turns out to be a grand success

The Nellore 5K Run made its debut today with a stunning 5k Run successfully concluding at A.C. Subba Reddy Stadium. The event was designed and developed to promote running as the primary form of fitness along with the objective of celebrating the spirit of Nellore. The race was aimed at spreading the message “Go Green Nellore”. This Nellore 5 K run is a part of “Nellore NextProgramme”, an initiative of Swarna Bharat Trustto promote sports and fitness in Nellore.

The event was flagged off by Smt. M. Janaki, Collector, Nellore District, and M.Rajmohan Reddy MP sfromA.C. Subba Reddy Stadium. The event saw participation from celebrities and people from all walks of life who actively came forward to support the cause of fitness and healthy lifestyle. The organizing committee members, Dr. Sudha Kesavaraju, Dr. Shilpa Reddy, Shri. Ram Katikineni, Shri Kali Kondury were seen mingling with the crowd and motivating the runners who came from across the region.

The event witnessed an overwhelming participation with more than 2500 runners taking part in the 5K race. Runners were seen stretching and warming up in preparation for the flag-off at the start point. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and festive ambience. The Nellore 5K Run is only the second of its kind Timed-5K Run with participants receiving an RFID chip to measure their individual time. The inaugural event was a grand success with enthusiastic participation by the citizens of Nellore.

Top three finishers in different categories were awarded cash prizes. All finishers received Finisher Medals and Certificates of Participation.

The MAXParticipation Trophy was awarded to Adi Sankara College, Nellore for registering the largest number of participants. Additionally, mementos were awarded to Akshara School, Nellore, and AC Subba Reddy Stadium Walkers’ Association for their enthusiastic participation.

Speaking on the occasion Shri. Anil Kumar, CEO, Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd., said: “We have witnessed a fantastic response for the 5K Run in Nellore. This is a unique initiative to promote sports, wellness and healthy lifestyle for the citizens of Nellore.The Race has provided a much needed platform for runners of all levels.”
