Real Kathmandu Marathon Organizers during the press meet at Kathmandu

The 7th edition of the Real Kathmandu Marathon will be held on September 21 2013 in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu. Pro Sports Private Limited with technical support from Nepal Amateur Athletics Association, has been organizing the Kathmandu Marathon annually. The seventh edition of Real Kathmandu Marathon will be organized with the slogan ´Do your share for a cleaner city’. The title sponsor of the Kathmandu Marathon is Real fruit juice from Dabur, Nepal.

The seventh edition of the Real Kathmandu Marathon will feature the following events.

• Men’s and women’s marathon
• Men’s and women’s half marathon.
• Open 5-km races in men’s and women’s categories
• 5-km school boys and girls races
• Wheelchair races Men and Women.

The 42.195 km marathon will begin from the National Stadium and is routed through Teku, Kalanki, Satdobato, Lagankhel, Jawalakhel, Pulchowk, Kupondol, Maitighar, Anamnagar, Kamaladi, Jai Nepal, Durbar Marg and Shahid Gate before finishing at the starting point – the Dasarath National Stadium.

The organisers expect a participation of about 6,000 individuals in the event including athletes from 20 foreign countries. The top ten finishers of the men’s and women’s marathons and the top three finishers of other categories will receive cash prizes. The top three finishers of men’s and women’s marathons will get NRS (Nepalese Rupees) 100,000 , NRS 50,000 and NRS 20,000 respectively. Similarly, athletes securing the top three positions in men’s and women’s half marathons will get NRS 50,000, NRS 25,000 and NRS 10,000 respectively.

In a press meet organized at Kathmandu, Nepal, the organisers expressed their hope that the Real Kathmandu Marathon will be a milestone event in athletics in Nepal and will be helpful for the promotion and development of marathons in Nepal and in South Asia.
