Nellore, October 11, 2015: The Nellore 5K Run made its debut today with a stunning 5k Run successfully concluding at A.C. Subba Reddy Stadium. The event was designed and developed to promote running as the primary form of fitness along with the objective of celebrating the spirit of Nellore. The race was aimed at spreading the message “Go Green Nellore”. This Nellore 5 K run is a part of the “Nellore Next Programme”, an initiative to promote sports and fitness in Nellore.
The event was flagged off from the city’s A.C. Subba Reddy Stadium, and saw participation from celebrities and people from all walks of life who actively came forward to support the cause of fitness and healthy lifestyle. The organizing committee members, Dr. Sudha Kesavaraju, Dr. Shilpa Reddy, Shri. Ram Katikineni, Shri Kali Kondurywere seen mingling with the crowd and motivating the runners who came from across the region.
The run saw an overwhelming participation with more than 2500 runners taking part in the 5K race. Runners were seen stretching and warming up in preparation for the flag-off at the start point. The Nellore 5K Run is only the second of its kind, a timed 5K run, with participants receiving an RFID chip to measure their individual time. The inaugural event was a grand success with enthusiastic participation by the citizens of Nellore.
The top three finishers in different categories were awarded cash prizes. All finishers received finishers’ medals and certificates of participation.

The MAXParticipation Trophy was awarded to AdiSankara College, Nellorefor registering the largest number of participants. Mementos were also awarded to Akshara School, Nellore, and AC Subba Reddy Stadium Walkers’ Association for their participation.
