Indian shooters dominate in VIII Commonwealth Federation Shooting Championship with 2 Gold, 1 Sliver and 1 Bronze

New Delhi, February 19: The Indian shooters dominated on the first a dayof the VIII Commonwealth Federation Shooting Championship here at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, New Delhi. India leads the medal tally with 2 Gold, 1 Sliver and 1 Bronze medal in its kitty.

Gagan Narag shot 599 out of 600 to help team India win its first gold of the championship in 10m AIR RIFLE MEN’s TEAM. His partner P.T. Raghunath scored 594/600 taking the team score to an aggregate of 1193, breaking the previous championship record of 1183 set by Indian shooters Gagan Narang and Manoj Kumar in 2005.

Anisa Sayyed and Annuraj Singh won Gold in 25m PISTOL WOMEN’s TEAM. Bapu Vanzare and Viraj Singh gave India Silver in the 50m PISTOL MEN. Lajja Gauswami and Tejaswani Sawant together won a bronze medal in 50m RIFLE 3 POSITION WOMEN.

In the 10m AIR FIFLE MEN TEAM Gangan Narag & P. T. Raghunath stood first with 1193 points and broke the earlier Commonwealth Games Championship Record of 1183. England’s James Huckle and Ken Parr Jnr Team won silver medal with 1185. Asif Hossain Khan and Shovon Chowdhury of Bangladesh won a bronze medal with 1182 points.

In the 25m PISTOL WOMEN TEAM, Anisha Syyed and Annuraj Singh of India won Gold with 1147 while Linda Ryan and Elena Galiabovtech of Australia bagged the Silver medal with 1138 points. England secured a bronze medal with Georgina Geikie and Judia Lydall coming third with 1129 points.

In the 50m PISTOL TEAM, Michael Gault and Nick Baxter of England won first gold for their country with 1082 point. India’s Bapu Vanzare and Viraj Singh gave India its first Silver medal with 1059 points. Australia’s Alfio Casgrande and Janek Janski won a bronze medal for the country with 1030 points.

In the 50m RIFLE 3 POSITION WOMEN Scotland’s Jenniefer Mcintosh and Kay Copland with 1136 points. Jennifer Corish and Sian Corish of Wales won fist silver medal for the country with 1135 points. India’s Lajja Gauswami and Tejaswani Swawant won a bronze with 1135 points. Considering the best of 10’s India was given a Bronze.

Amanpreet Singh & Lajja Gauswami of India bagged the Gold and Silver Badges in 50m PISTOL MEN’s and 50m RIFLE 3 POSITION WOMEN events respectively
