Three reasons why Real Madrid should not sign James Rodrigues

If theres one player who has taken this world cup by storm, then it has to be Colombian striker James Rodriguez. Although Colombia fell to Brazil in the quarters, the youngster, who currently leads the Golden Boot race with 6 goals, is still managing to grab the headlines as several top European clubs are lining up to acquire his services.Unsurprisngly so, Real Madrid, who have a history of capturing world class players, are poised to to bring home the Colombian prodigy. But the matter of fact is, that Los Blancos really do not need to pursue Rodriguez, considering the abundance of talent in their squad. To elaborate, we delve through the 3 reason why Real Madrid should not sign him.

#1 Alleviation of defensive woes should be the top priority

The fact that Real Madrid leaked 38 goals in the league last season, only corroborates the headlines.

Where the offensive onslaught continued to terrify the opposition, it was the lacklustre defence which affected the overall result. Though Real Madrid possesses some of the best defenders in the form of Pepe and Ramos, their disciplinary record says otherwise. The duo’s horrendous tackles and needless fouls have led to their immediate marching orders and conceding crucial penalties which eventually weighed heavy on the results.

Also, taking Spain’s dismal campaign at the world cup into account, there was no ambiguity in the fact that Iker Casillas is well past his prime. All these issues need to be addressed by Ancelotti if his side is to retain European dominance. Investing on a formidable defender would be a more sagacious move.

#2 Crop of talented youngsters in the squad

When big names such as Ronaldo, Benzema, Di Maria, Bale failed to deliver, the young guns Alvaro Morata, Isco and Jese Rodriguez have stepped up the plate and turned the tables. Despite coming on as subsitutes in considerable amount of games, they have made the difference with wonderful goals and by creating chances.

It was Isco’s 82nd minute strike in the opening game against Real Betis last year, that sealed the winner, ignited the 6-1 rooting of Galatasaray etc. speaks of his contributions. It was Jese who converted Ronaldo’s cross to score a consolation in El Clasico and further, the winner against Valencia and a major hand in Copa Del ray success burnishs his credentials. And lastly, Alvaro Morata.

Perhaps, the best amongst the lot, this Spanish prodigy had more goals per minute ratio than Ronaldo and Messi last season! Despite playing a mere 20-25 minutes on average, the fact that he scored in 90% of the games accentuates the immense talent he’s gifted with. If these talents are exploited well, they’ll surely yield tremondous dividends.

#3 ... and the indefatigable \'BBC\' trio

Having amassed a lip-smacking 97 goals between them, this ferocious triumvirate of- Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo have blown the opposition defense out of water. They also have to be given the lion’s share of the adulation for the Champions League success.

Together, they have ripped every defence apart and this made them one of the most feared trio across Europe. With UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup and Club World Cup still up for grabs, this attacking triad are sure to bring more glory to the club.

Therefore, I can Infer: “Real Madrid does not another forward”.
