Top 5 Premier League targets available for free in 2015

Although the January transfer window is just behind us, most Premier League clubs have already sent out scouts in preparation for the summer. Instead of splashing the cash on players on long contracts, clubs would be well advised to spend on players who will be out of contract soon. Not only does that strengthen the clubs position, but also ensures that they can get in a player for considerably less. So, let us take a look at five Premier League targets, who are out of contract at the end of the 2014/2015 season and will be available for free in the summer of 2015.

#1 Karim Benzema

Although the Frenchman is currently the number one striker at Real Madrid, the truth is, that might not be the case for too long. With his contract expiring at the end of next season, Benzema might well choose to move, especially if Luis Suarez is on his way to the Bernabeu as some predict.

If he wishes to leave, you can be sure that Arsene Wenger will do everything to bring his fellow countryman to the Emirates, given that he is a long-term admirer of the striker.

#2 Toni Kroos

With little over a year left on his current deal, the ball is well and truly in Toni Kroos’ court. After his agent was seeing talking to David Moyes in January, speculation reached fever pitch levels as the German international was reportedly on his way out of Munich.

Although the Bavarians issued a hands off warning to United, there is nothing they can do to stop him, if the German international chooses to move for free in 2015, after his contract expires.

#3 Ilkay Gundogan

Although he has been sidelined with a back injury since the first game of the current campaign, Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan stock certainly hasn’t dipped. The deep-lying midfielder has been regularly linked with a move away, with Manchester United keen on his signature.

Next season, Gundogan finally has a big decision to make. As his contract is coming to an end, he can either chose to stay and repay the faith shown by Jurgen Klopp or ask out and join one of Europe’s elite. But, until he makes that decision, you can be sure that the papers will be running amok with speculation linking him with a move away.

#4 Sami Khedira

Manchester United reportedly made a last-minute bid for the German international last summer which Real Madrid rejected. Since then, a cruciate ligament injury has forced the 26-year-old to miss a large chunk of the current campaign.

During which time, he has lost his place to Modric and unless he is able to reclaim it next season, the chances are, the deep-lying midfielder might just make his move away from Madrid once his contract expires at the end of next season.

#5 Alvaro Morata

The 21-year-old Spanish striker was frequently linked with a move away from Real Madrid in January, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham reportedly interested in the Spaniard. But, Carlo Ancelotti managed to keep hold of Morata even though he has failed to break into Real Madrid’s first team thus far.

Ancelotti might not keep him for much longer, if he doesn’t sign a new contract as his current one expires at the end of next season. If he isn’t in the first team next season, the chances are he would likely move away from the Bernabeu.
