WWE SummerSlam 2014: 5 Superstars who will shine at the Pay-Per-View

Every week the WWE Superstars are presented with a chance of proving their worth to the fans. These weekly events however only give a platform to show the consistence while it’s pay-per-views like SummerSlam which make legends.Coming in and stealing the show at one of the big four pay-per-views is not an easy task and this is what usually filters out the men from the boys.The show at Staples Centre on August 17 won’t be any different and all superstars would be coming out of that curtain to make a name for himself at the grand stage. Many will fail in efforts but here is a look at some that could succeed.

#5 John Cena

Now, this might not be a popular choice. However, if we think it through it is the ideal situation for Cena to shine in front of the fans that can’t stop jeering him.

The last feud that Cena had with Bray Wyatt was supposed to give him the platform to bring out the warrior inside him as he was pitted against a monster. Some bad booking and WWE’s unwillingness to give Bray some wins cost that attempt.

Cena looked dominating instead and received a lot of criticism for not putting Bray over when it was not his fault.

Lesnar on the other hand is an established monster who could bring out the warrior inside Cena without the fear of getting buried.

#4 Jack Swagger

Swagger was booked randomly after the Real Americans broke up at WrestleMania and it was the face turn which pushed him back into relevance.

Not many gave Swagger a chance against Rusev at Battleground but he came out and gave a performance which might’ve made the creative think otherwise about not pushing him. The patriotic angle was a big hit with the WWE Universe and SummerSlam will see something similar.

The wave of momentum that Swagger rides on will not be affected even if he loses out to Rusev at the pay-per-view.

It will be his performance which will make the headlines rather than the result and after the heat that Lana got, every person in attendance will cheer for their representative.

#3 Cesaro

It’s sometimes sheer desperation that brings out the best in people and Cesaro is currently standing at a similar phase of his career.

WWE hasn’t yet made it clear about the plans they have for the Swiss Superman at SummerSlam and no matter whom his opponent is, Cesaro will have to put up a good match if he is to have his stocks high in the business.

The recent weeks have shown a similar story when he went up against the lights of Cena and Dean Ambrose.

A bigger stage like SummerSlam would only make Cesaro raise his game and hopefully he won’t get Kofi Kingston as his opponent.

#2 Randy Orton

Just like Cesaro, Orton is going to enter SummerSlam riding on pure desperation. The difference however is that he has a much bigger storyline at his disposal.

And to give more confidence to the viper, he was almost at his best this week on Raw when he took out Roman Reigns. Friction that Orton has with Kane and Triple H forms the subplot for the match he will be involved in and the chances of messing up are less.

Orton needs to deliver the goods at SummerSlam in order to continue his heel run.

Even if he turns face, it will be a big headline grabbing moment for the show which also works well for Orton who could have bigger strides after that.

#1 Dean Ambrose

One thing that the fans wanted to see at Battleground was Ambrose unloading all this anger on Seth Rollins.

WWE wisely called off the match so that they could have a big encounter at SummerSlam and one of the reasons why they did the same was the faith they had in these two superstars. Rollins might be the one who will get the win because of the briefcase he has.

This leaves Ambrose to speak through his performance than the result and for a maniac like him; it doesn’t get any better than that.

Rules might not be enough to save Rollins at SummerSlam as the lunatic fringe will be looking to make an example out of Mr. Money in the bank.
