Thiruvananthapuram, 11 December 2014

The installation works of flood lights at Chandrashekharan Nair Stadium has been started.

The massive 12 tonne and 30 metres high light masts are expected to provide 750 lux of vertical luminance. The Rs. 2.37 Crores works are being executed by the Kerala Police Housing Society, who are the owners of the stadium.

The stadium which was renovated recently has been earmarked as the training venue of the participating athletes of the forthcoming 35th National Games. The stadium has already been widely used by athletes and sports enthusiasts of the city for morning jogging and training. Floodlights are already been installed at Green Field stadium and University as part of the National Games.

The three stadia, which well complement the live telecast of competitions and the new luminance, have been a long cherished dream of the sports lovers of the city, where international day and night games can be conducted.

Tiresome athletes and sweat soaked audience under the scorching sun would be the things of the past.

Evening and night sports events can be conducted hereafter which is expected to pave a new sports culture in the state.
