Hussain enters quarters in Squash Open in Delhi

New Delhi - Shakir Hussain outplayed Ashray Ohri 3-2 (9-11, 12-14, 11-3, 11-6, 11-7) in the men’s open category of the Coca-Cola Squash Open Championship played at Kendriya Vidyalaya Squash Courts here on Friday.

Hussain lost the first two sets but fought back brilliantly to beat Ohri on Day 4 to reach the quarterfinals.

In the men’s under-23 semifinal match, Karm Kumar thumped down Laxman Joshi of Jindal Squash Academy, Mumbai 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-6). Karm won the under-21 category of the 2011 Delhi and North India Top 8 Squash League.

In the quarterfinal match of this newly introduced category, Rishi Jalan thrashed Abhijeet Malik 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 11-8) to reach the semis of the 105th tournament, organised by Indian Squash Professionals (ISP).

More than 350 players of all age-categories from all over the country are competing for a prize money of Rs.3.25 Lakh.
