Indian squash team set to depart for World Junior Championships

The Indian squash contingent comprising six junior boys and five junior girls are set to depart for the World Squash Federation World Junior Squash Championships being held at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in the country’s capital, Doha, from 7th-18th July, 2012.

Players from 29 countries will initially do battle in the men’s and women’s individual championships (from 7-12 July), which will be followed by the biennial Men’s World Junior Team Championship (from 13th-18th July).

Double Asian Junior Champion, Anaka Alankamony, and junior national champion Mahesh Mangaonkar have been seeded 5/8 in the women’s and men’s individual event respectively. Egypt’s Marwan El Shorbagy & Nour El Sherbini have been given top billing.

Mahesh Mangaonkar will lead the Indian junior men in the Men’s World Junior Team Championship and will hope to better the last performance of 5th position achieved in Ecuador 2010. The team seedings and draws will be released a day prior to the team event.
