Madras Cricket Club(A) wins VP Thirumoorthy Memorial Inter Club Squash Trophy

The fourth edition of the VP Thirumoorthy Memorial Trophy which was conducted at the Madras Cricket Club Squash Courts, ended with MCC (A) sweeping it for the fourth succesive time. In all eight teams participated in this tournament including Madras Cricket Club A, B & C, Madras Race Club, Cosmopolitan Club A & B and Gandhinagar Club A & B.In the Finals Cosmo(A) put up a brave fight but lost to MCC in the fifth deciding match.

MCC’s top seed Cyrus Poncha gave the perfect start to the hosts winning his match in straight games. Cyrus moved his opponent to all corners showing his exprience against his ward Vaarish. Grish Sawlani from Comso levelled the tie against Siddharth Venateshan displaying his letheal drops and volleys.Srivatsan was too strong for Srikanth in the veterans winning comfortably. It could have been all over in the doubles but Girish and Imran Jamal were able to pip Rajiv Reddy and Hemant Mehta in a very close 3 games which went to the tie breaker. The decide was also very close but Srivatsan Subramaniam and Siddharth Venateshan edged out fancied opponents Imthiaz and Vaarish to ensure MCC lifts the VP Thirumoorthy Memorial Inter Club Squash Trophy.
