Squash doubles camp organized by SRFI in preparation for Commonwealth Games

In preparation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games the SRFI organised a doubles camp for selected players at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai from 28 April – 1 May 2014.

This is the second such camp to be organised. The first was held at the same venue on 18-23 Dec 2013.

This is the first time that the doubles event at the Commonwealth Games will be played with a 13 inch tin. ISA had made provisions for such a tin.

We organised matches for the following probable pairs:

Women’s Doubles – Dipika Pallikal and Joshana ChinappaMen’s Doubles – Saurav Ghosal and Harinder Pal SandhuMixed Doubles – Dipika Pallikal/Saurav Ghosal and Joshana Chinappa/Harinder Pal Sandhu

Sessions were held at the following times:

28 April 11 am & 5.30 pm29 April 10.30 am & 5.30 pm30 April 12.30 pm-1.30 pm & 6.30 pm1 May 12.30 pm-1.30 pm

All practice matches were video taped and with the assistance of ‘Sports Mechanics’ we will do match analysis and keep the playersbriefed. The players were also briefed on the proposed schedule and format of the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July – 3 Aug 2014.

The entire camp was supervised by Consultant Coach Maj (R) S. Maniam and assisted by National Coach Cyrus Poncha. The next camp is scheduled to be held in Chennai from 27 May – 1 June 2014.

The SRFI looks forward to a good showing at the games.
