Sub Junior – Junior National Squash Championships 2010

Expectations are high among squash lovers across the country who will be looking forward to an action filled Sub Junior – Junior National Squash Championship from October 25 to be held at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai. There are a record of 567 participants from 18 states with the maximum participation from the home state of Tamil Nadu, with 157 players.

There will be 10 categories in the individual event – Boys & Girls Under 11, 13, 15, 17 & 19 years, this will be followed by the Interstate championships (29 Oct -2 Nov 2010) which has 4 events – Boys & Girls Under 15 & 19.The top junior players vying for the Boys under 19 title include Asian Junior Champion Ravi Dixit & Ramit Tandon, both from Tamil Nadu. In the Boys under 17, rising star Mahesh Mangaonkar will be the firm favourite.In the Girls under 19 category Anaka Alankamony (TN) and Ankita Sharma (Mah) have been seeded to reach the finals while the top 2 girls in the under 17 are Saumya Kakri (Mah) and Aparajitha Balamurukan (TN)“I am delighted to see the number of entires increasing every year, squash in the country is seeing a definite upward movement.
