Dominic Thiem and Sofia Kenin have both received wildcards for the 2023 BNP Paribas Open

The 2023 BNP Paribas Open will commence in a few days. Many of the best players in the world will be looking to win one of the most prestigious tournaments on the tennis calendar.

Last year, we saw Iga Swiatek produce a stellar performance to win the women's singles tournament, beating Maria Sakkari in the final. A total of 13 singles wildcards have been awarded for this year's BNP Paribas Open, with former champion Dominic Thiem being the biggest name on the list. The Austrian missed last year's tournament as he was recovering from a wrist injury and will be eager to do well in 2023.

China's Wu Yibing also received a wildcard for the tournament. The 23-year-old became the first man from his country to win a title on the ATP Tour by winning the Dallas Open.

2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin is the most notable wildcard in the women's singles event. The 24-year-old suffered an opening-round defeat last season and will be eager to do well this time around.

Budding youngster Katie Volynets also received a wildcard for the BNP Paribas Open and will look to impress. The 21-year-old is currently competing at the ATX Open in Austin and is in the semifinals of the tournament.
