Czech Republic player Tomas Machac eating a chocolate bar during a Davis Cup press conference has drawn a reaction from Nick Kyrgios, who recalled the time when he was labeled "disrespectful" for eating during a Wimbledon Open press conference.

The Australian found himself in hot water when he ate sushi during a press conference at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, much to the surprise of the gathered media. Though this sparked a flurry of questions from the press, the World No. 20 remained unperturbed, calmly finishing his meal before continuing with the press conference.

After prevailing in a grueling three-hour Davis Cup Qualifiers match against João Sousa, Machac secured a decisive 2-0 victory over Portugal. At the post-match press conference, he was seen eating a chocolate bar.

This prompted Kyrgios to take to social media and point out the double standards after he was bashed by the media and fans alike when he consumed sushi at Wimbledon.

"I remember when I had sushi after a 4 hour match at Wimbledon. Was deemed disrespectful," he tweeted.

The assault charge against Nick Kyrgios, filed by his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari, was dismissed in a Canberra court despite pleading guilty.

Magistrate Jane Campbell chose not to record a conviction against Kyrgios due to the minor nature of the offense, which was classified as a common assault and was not premeditated. Furthermore, the offense was deemed to be at the lower end of the spectrum in terms of seriousness.

The court's decision is a welcome reprieve for the tennis star, who can now focus on his career without the looming threat of a criminal record. The World No. 20 was grateful for the court's ruling and expressed regret for his actions against his ex-girlfriend.

"I respect today's ruling and am grateful to the court for dismissing the charges without conviction. I was not in a good place when this took place and I reacted to a difficult situation in a way I deeply regret," he said.
"I know it wasn't OK and I'm sincerely sorry for the hurt I caused," he added. "Mental health is tough. Life can seem overwhelming. But I've found that getting help and working on myself has helped me to feel better and to be better."
