"Pretty special for him to make the trip" - Christopher Eubanks thrilled to have support from actor Jamie Foxx during Miami Open 2023 quarterfinal

Christopher Eubanks was thrilled and honored to have support from Hollywood star and global icon Jamie Foxx, who was in the stands during the American's Miami Open quarterfinal against Daniil Medvedev on Thursday. Eubanks and Foxx have been friends for a couple of years now, but this was the first time the actor attended one of Eubanks' matches.

Eubanks posed a challenge to the highly in-form Medvedev before bowing out with a 3-6, 5-7 loss to the World No. 5. Nevertheless, it has probably been the most memorable week of the American's career as he broke into the Top-100 for the first time and also reached his maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final.

To make things even sweeter, Foxx attended Eubanks' quarterfinal match and even caught up with him during a break in play due to rain. Eubanks later revealed that Foxx has been following his progress for the past couple of years and has always wanted to attend a match to further show his support.

"It's cool he was able to come in, wanted to support me. He's followed my progress over the past couple of years, and it was really, really cool to see him," Christopher Eubanks said in his post-match press conference.

"That's the first time he's actually been able to see me play live."

Eubanks knows Foxx quite well, having even played tennis and pickleball with the superstar actor. However, Foxx coming all the way to see him play was a special feeling for Eubanks.

"We have played tennis together, played pickleball together, but for him to see me compete live is cool. Yeah, pretty special for him to make the trip," Eubanks added.

Earlier in the week, Foxx took to social media to post a heartfelt message to Eubanks after the American beat Gregoire Barrere in the third round to confirm his Top-100 debut. Foxx congratulated Eubanks and wished him more success in the future.

Christopher Eubanks and Jamie Foxx caught up on Thursday during a rain break in the 26-year-old's quarter-final against Daniil Medvedev at the Miami Open, and Foxx had some encouraging words for his friend. Foxx spent just a few seconds with Eubanks, giving him a pep talk before leaving him to focus on the match.

"Here we are with my man Chris, man. He’s got everybody by the heart, right in there," Foxx said as he embraced Eubanks. "Everybody rooting for him, we came out here to support him."

After the match, Foxx even caught up with Daniil Medvedev, and the two posed together for pictures. Medvedev took to social media to express his excitement at meeting Foxx.

Meanwhile, Eubanks will now aim to carry his strong momentum from Miami into the upcoming claycourt season.
