Results of the 2015 Barcelona Open

Nishikori (Left) and Nadal are the overwhelming favourites to win the Barcelona Open this year.

The Barcelona Open is back and despite his semi-final exit at the Monte Carlo Masters, eight-time champion Rafael Nadal enters the event as the firm favourite. Kei Nishikori, who has been seeded first, is the other big name, who will be seen in action at the tournament.

Top seed Kei Nishikori, who has been given a first round bye will commence hostilities at the Barcelona Open against Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili, currently ranked 85th in the world. The Russian took out Carreno Busta of Spain in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the second round.

Nadal, meanwhile, will meet the winner of the match between Nicolas Almagro and Paolo Lorenzi. Nadal’s 41-match winning streak at Barcelona was halted last year by Almagro.
