"If only we could throw a track"- Tara Davis-Woodhall raves about Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta

Tara Davis-Woodhall recently showed her admiration for the Mercedes-Benz Stadium located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Davis-Woodhall, who represents the United States in the women's long jump, is the reigning world indoor champion in the discipline with a best attempt of 7.07m. Some of her other top accomplishments include winning the silver medal at the World Championships 2023, a Junior World Championships bronze in 2018 and a gold at the Youth World Championships in 2015.

Recently, Historic Vids shared an aerial view of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is one of the 16 stadiums for FIFA World Cup 2026, set to be jointly hosted by three countries - Canada, Mexico and the United States. They posted this on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

"$1.6 billion dollars Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta Stadium (FIFA)"

Tara Davis-Woodhall responded to the tweet expressing her desire to see a track established inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. She stated:

"oh if only we could just throw a track in here"

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, also known as Atlanta Stadium, is home to the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer. Inaugurated in 2017, the stadium was built at an estimated cost of $1.6 billion.


A look at Tara Davis-Woodhall's track and field career

During her junior years, Tara Davis-Woodhall shattered the U.S. junior indoor long jump record with a jump of 6.68m at the Dunamis Sports Group Prep Classic 2017. She went on to break the 24-year-old state long jump record of World Championship medalist Marion Jones with 6.73m.

At the Texas Relays 2021, Davis-Woodhall made a jump of 7.14m to establish a new collegiate record. She was chosen to represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, her debut Olympic Games, where she placed sixth in the finals with a best jump of 6.84m.

The long jump event saw Malaika Mihambo of Germany clinch the gold medal with a season-best effort of 7.00m, where her compatriot Brittney Reese won the silver with a 6.97m jump.

Davis-Woodhall will be aiming to compete for the USA in her second Olympics as she will aim to secure a berth through the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
