Pant was last seen on the field, representing DC on Tuesday during the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Delhi. His team ended their IPL 2024 campaign on a positive note with a 19-run victory.

Rishabh Pant top-scored for Delhi Capitals this season, scoring 446 runs in 13 games at an average of 40.55, including three half-centuries. He will next turn up for India during the upcoming T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA next month.

Gautam Gambhir picks Rishabh Pant over Sanju Samson for wicket-keeper slot in 2024 T20 World Cup

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir recently gave his choice for the wicket-keeper spot in the Indian playing XI between Pant and Samson. Speaking on Sportskeeda Cricket's Match Ki Baat, Gambhir picked Pant over Samson due to the southpaw's ability to bat in the middle-order, considering the structure of the Indian team. Gambhir said:

"Both have equal quality. Sanju has amazing quality, and even Rishabh has amazing quality. If I had to pick, I'd probably pick Rishabh Pant because he is a natural middle-order batter. Sanju, if you see in IPL, he has batted at number three. Rishabh has batted at number five, six and seven I think."

He added:

"Looking at Team India's combination, we need the wicketkeeper in that position and not in the top order. So I'd start with Rishabh. Plus, he is a left-hander in the middle-order, which gives you a left hand-right hand combination."
