COMMENTARY NOT AVAILABLE
The commentary is not available for this match. Please check the scorecard for latest updates.
So for all the fans from the subcontinent, you can go back to sleep. Not the perfect setting for any cricket fan but it is what it is. As a commentator, we cannot complaint to be honest with this early finish. Lots of cricketing action lined up all through the day. Keep following Sportskeeda for all the latest sporting updates for now this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off. Adios!
06:15 AM IST: Not the greatest news coming in from the ground. The match has been abandoned. The ground staff did their best but couldn't make the outfield fit enough for play. The two captains shake their hands and they will probably take this given neither team wanted any of their players to get injured with the tournament still being in its early stages.
06:00 AM IST: The umpires are having an inspection and the St Lucia captain Faf du Plessis and Darren Sammy in chat. The match officials having a chat with the coaches and some of the players. We will get the official update as when we get any. The wait continues. We still don't have an update yet but if the live visuals are anything to go by, the umpire still doesn't look particularly happy with the outfield. The forecast for the next few hours is bright and we might just get enough time to get a game in.
05:35 AM IST: There has been no rain around in the last 3-4 hours. The lone super sopper trying it's best to soak things before the next inspection which is slated to happen in about 10 minutes. Hopefully with no rain around, we can atleast get going with the cricket in some capacity. It will be shortened encounter but whether the outfield is ready remains to be seen.
04:45 AM IST: The wait continues. We will have the next inspection at 8:15 PM local time, which is around an hour from now. The outfield still looks dodgy and might be potentially a threat for the fielders.
04:30 AM IST: We should have had the toss by now but the outfield needs to get dry before the toss can happen. We are supposed to have an inspection anytime soon. Darren Sammy was having a chat with his players and by the look of things as of now, things looks a lot brighter for now.
04:20 AM IST: We will have a delayed toss. The conditions have improved and the rain has stayed away so far. The pitch and the square look dry but the problem is with the outfield which has carried a lot of water in the last 24 hours. The super soppers are doing their job but it might take a substantial amount of time before we can get the outfield ready.
Hello and Welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage for the 6th game of the current edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). After a rain-marred day, the fans would be hoping that the rain gods decide to relent and we get some cricketing action. It will be myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) who will take us through everything that unravels during the course of the contest. Toss update and team sheets coming up in a bit. Before heading into the game, read below to find out what to expect from these two teams and how they have fared in the tournament far 👇.
Already 3 matches have been washed out due to persistent rain as cricket's biggest party has been somewhat got marred by thundershowers. As we get into this game, we would be hoping against hope that we get a full game. However, the forecast doesn't look too good. Only time will tell whether we will have any match whatsoever.
The St Lucia Kings are currently occupying the top spot in the points table with a win, a loss and a no result in 3 games. They lost the opening encounter against the Jamaica Tallawahs but came back strongly in the very next game to beat the Barbados Royals. The batting department stepped up to the task in the 2nd match before the 3rd match was abandoned due to rain.
Matthew Forde has bowled quite brilliantly in the tournament so far and has been the go-to bowler. He bagged 3 wickets in the previous encounter while Chris Sole, Alzarri Joseph and Sikandar Raza have also chipped in with crucial scalps. Meanwhile, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have a good side and will be raring to go after their opening match was washed out.
