Mamadou Sakho completed a £15m move to Liverpool

Liverpool FC have completed a hat-trick of transfers on deadline day, with Mamadou Sakho, Tiago Ilori and Victor Moses completing their moves to Anfield.

All three new arrivals were present at Anfield to witness Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United, and will cost a combined total of around £23.5 million.

Centre-backs Sakho and Ilori both agreed personal terms and passed medicals on Saturday itself. The Reds paid PSG £15 million for France international Sakho, while young Portuguese defender Ilori was signed for a fee of around £7 million.

Victor Moses arrives on a season-long loan from Chelsea, and Liverpool will pay the London club a fee of around £1 million.

Afterwards, Ilori told Liverpoolfc.com: “It feels great being a Liverpool player – coming to the Premier League has always been a dream for me.

“I’m going to try and achieve everything I can. I want to play as much as possible and we’ll see what the future holds. I will give my all and try my best to help the team.”

Though born in London, Ilori has represented Portugal at U18, U19 and U20 level.

He also has experience of playing at Anfield in the 2011-12 NextGen Series for Sporting.

“I know the history of the club and the Premier League is the best league in the world, in my opinion,” said Ilori. “Liverpool, have a great team and I think it’s the place for me to be at the moment.

“I know there have been some great teams here in the past and the club has won a lot of trophies and I want to be a part of it.”

Sakho’s revealed he wants to help Livepool reach the Champions League again, and his arrival will strengthen Liverpool’s defence.

“My aim while I am here is to play in the Champions League with Liverpool,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “I remember their teams when they were in the competition when I was younger.

“The Champions League is a tournament that all the great clubs in Europe participate in and that’s where we need to get to.

“With the team we have, and the means put at the disposal of the players, the technical support and the whole club and its supporters are in a good position to get there. This is our objective.

“With regards to the history of Liverpool, the thing that struck me most was the victory in the Champions League final when I was very young. I don’t remember how old I was but I was very young and I remember this fantastic event, which always impressed me.

“I hope to create a new piece of history with our supporters at Anfield.”

And while the 23-year-old already has bags of experience that belie his tender years – he’s not fazed by competing with older, more established centre-backs for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

“I’ve been at Melwood for a day and it’s very good. The training areas are impressive and everything is in place for the players to keep in top condition.

“Everything is adapted for professional sports-people and it really gives a good image of a club like Liverpool.”

Brendan Rodgers strengthened his squad further by agreeing a loan deal for Chelsea winger Moses. The Nigeria international completed his medical earlier today.

After completing the move, Moses told Liverpoolfc.com: “First and foremost, I’m delighted to have made the loan from Chelsea to a big club like Liverpool.

“The most important thing is for me to be professional about it and I’m here to do a job for the club.

“The target is to get into the top four and for the club to compete in the Champions League – and I’m delighted to be here.

“The manager has done very well and the formation and players here will help me and I just want to gel in, get to know the players and play with them.

“There are a lot of quality players here – they’re winning games and creating chances. It’s a massive thing for me to be here.”

Rodgers is still interested in Aston Villa keeper Shay Given as cover for Simon Mignolet, but there are no assurances by Villa that a deal will materialise before tonight’s 11 pm deadline.
