Lin Dan discusses success at the finals of the BWF World Championships in Guangzhou, China on Sunday
Lin Dan, China:“This trophy means a lot different this time. After I stayed away from the court for some time, many people started to question my ability. As a player, there must be some support, coming along with some disbelief in me. But that was not important to me. What is important to me is doing well and what I believe is right. I didn’t know what result I could get before the event started. But every match I play, I play with my attitude.”
Lin Dan, China:“First of all, sport is very cruel. But I think both our performances deserved every fan’s respect. At the age of 30 we can meet each other in the final of an important tournament like this. This is the best proof of our love of badminton, and our value to the sport.”
Lin Dan, China:“I think Lin Dan is a lucky guy. Every opponent works very hard, and so do I. I am really happy to be the world champion for the 18th time. I want to thank the people who support me.”
Lin Dan, China:“Without this great opponent (Lee Chong Wei), Lin Dan wouldn’t know where his limit and potential is.”
