Adou Thiero plays collegiate basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), as of March 2025. After spending his early years in Mali, he returned to the U.S. when he was three years old and later attended Quaker Valley High School in Pennsylvania. He was a multi-sport athlete in high school and also played soccer and lacrosse besides basketball. At Quaker Valley as a sophomore, he averaged 17.7 points per game, which increased to 21.8 points as a junior. During his senior year, he averaged 23.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, leading his team to a 27-1 record. He set a school record with 44 points in a single game and finished with a total of 1,624 career points, ranking third in school history, as per his college roster.

Thiero committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats under coach John Calipari, who had previously coached his father. During his freshman year, Thiero played in 20 games, averaging 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, as per ESPN. He led the team in steals in four games and blocks in three games. His sophomore year saw an increase in playing time as he appeared in 25 games with 19 starts, averaging 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while also ranking second on the team with 27 blocks. After two seasons at Kentucky, Thiero entered the NCAA transfer portal following the departure of Coach Calipari to Arkansas. He ultimately decided to transfer to the Razorbacks for the 2024–25 season. Thiero averaged a career-high 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in 26 games for the Razorbacks, as of March 2025 (via ESPN).
