Chet Holmgren is a professional basketball player who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. Born on May 1, 2002, Holmgren plays as a center for the Thunder. Holmgren went to Minnehaha Academy for high school, where he showed tremendous potential and skill for his size. Holmgren helped Minnehaha in winning back-to-back state championships in his sophomore and junior years. Rated as a consensus five-star recruit, Holmgren committed to Gonzaga University ahead of his senior season in 2021. As a freshman Holmgren averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game.

Chet Holmgren was drafted as the second overall pick by the Thunder in the 2022 NBA Draft. Unfortunately, Holmgren had to miss the entire 2022/23 season due to a season-ending Lisfranc injury. After making his return in the 2023-24 year Holmgren astonishingly played all 82 games in the regular season and averaged 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

Chet Holmgren Vertical

At 7 feet 1 inch tall and a 7-foot 6-inch wingspan, Holmgren’s vertical measured around 27 inches before being drafted as per reports.

A typical NBA center or power forward has an average vertical of between 24 and 25 inches. For Holmgren to jump 27 inches without any professional-level strength and conditioning training already ranks him in the top 10% of leapers in the NBA.

His elite jumping skills, combined with his height and absurd length, make Holmgren a dominant presence on both ends of the court. In just his third NBA game, Holmgren recorded seven blocks against the Cleveland Cavaliers, setting a new franchise rookie record for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Though OKC lost that game, Holmgren's unique physique and leaping ability make him a problem for any opponent looking to score at the rim.
