Chris Paul is an American professional basketball player. He is a part of the San Antonio Spurs, as of October 2024. Over the years, Paul has amassed some special nicknames given by fans, such as “CP3”, a play on his initials and his jersey number #3. He is fondly called the “Point God” of the NBA due to his playmaking prowess. He started his high school career at West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, North Carolina, where he averaged 30.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game as a senior in high school.

Paul pursued collegiate basketball with Wake Forest University and averaged 14.8 points, 5.9 assists and 2.7 steals per game in his junior year, which helped him win the ACC Rookie of the Year award and saw him named in the Third Team All-ACC. He went on to average 15.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game the following year and declared for the 2005 NBA Draft. He was picked fourth overall in the first round of the draft by the New Orleans Hornets (now New Orleans Pelicans). He is a multiple-time steals and assists leader in the NBA, among other accolades, which makes a strong case for him to be included among the Greats.

Chris Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star and has done so with multiple teams across the NBA. His first All-Star appearance was with the New Orleans Hornets in the 2007-08 season, as he was instrumental in helping the team achieve a franchise record of 56 wins in a season. He won 3 more All-Star nominations in 2009, 2010 and 2011, following which he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Paul made it to the All-Star team every year as a Clipper, till the 2016 season and was an integral part of the core Los Angeles Clippers team, fondly dubbed as ‘Lob City’. On June 28, 2017, Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he joined James Harden to form the core team. He did not make any All-Star teams as part of the Houston Rockets squad and eventually left them and joined the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019 as part of a trade. He led the young Thunder team to the playoffs and also won his first All-Star nomination since 2016.

On November 16, 2020, Paul joined the Phoenix Suns on a trade deal and also made his 11th All-Star appearance of his career in the 2020-21 season. He also won his 12th All-Star appearance the following season with the Suns.
