Three-time NBA champion Daniel Richard Green, more commonly known as Danny Green, is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.

Born in New York, Green attended North Babylon High School where he played his freshman season. After that, Green transferred to St. Mary’s High School in New York. He averaged 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 4.0 blocks per game as a senior. He was a four-star recruit, considered the eighth-best shooting guard in the nation, and 31st overall as a player.

Green committed to playing for UNC for college He came off the bench in his freshman season averaging 7.5 points and 3.7 rebounds. He slowly improved as a player and by his junior season and averaged double-digit points while being the best 3-point shooter on the team. In his senior season, Green averaged 13.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

In the 2009 season, Green and UNC won the NCAA tourney championship and he declared for the 2009 NBA Draft. Danny Green was picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 46th pick in the 2009 NBA draft.

Green spent one season in Toronto and then signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. After that, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers where he has been a decent role player. Green has bounced between teams going from Cleveland and Philadelphia.

Currently, Green remains a free agent as he was waived by the 76ers on November 1, 2023.
