Derrick White is a shooting guard who plays for the Boston Celtics in the NBA as of March 2025. He played more than five seasons for the San Antonio Spurs before his trade to the Celtics. After the trade, White went on to play a vital role in the Celtics' success. Throughout his tenure with the Spurs, White continued to develop his offensive game, improving his ball-handling, shooting, and playmaking skills. He also earned a reputation as a reliable perimeter defender, often tasked with guarding the opposing team's best perimeter players.

Since his trade, White came off the bench in his first season and played a crucial role in the Celtics' run to the 2022 NBA Finals. After that White was inserted as a starter and has fit in like a glove, evolving into a lockdown defender and a 3 and D threat. White’s transition into a standout player came during the 2022-23 season, making the All-Defensive second-team and averaging 12.4 points, 3.9 assists and shooting 38.1% from the field. In the season 2023-24, White, along with Tatum and Brown, led the team to win the NBA Championship, where White averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. The 2024-25 season is the fourth season for White in the Celtics, and he is averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
