Derrick White is a professional basketball shooting guard and point guard for the Boston Celtics in the NBA as of March 2025. He attended Colorado Springs to play college ball from 2016 to 2017 before being drafted 29th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in 2017. White was acting as the secondary playmaker behind Marcus Smart last season, but as the 2022 DPOY traded the Grizzlies, all the responsibilities shifted to White. Furthermore, the Celtics guard is a versatile player who can play off the ball and is equally lethal on the defensive end.

White also played a crucial role when the Boston Celtics clinched the NBA Championship in the 2023-24 season. White averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.2 blocks per game in he 2023-24 regular season. The 2024-25 season is White's fourth season with the Boston Celtics, and he is a crucial player for the team to get them to every playoff since getting traded.

On February 10, 2022, the Boston Celtics acquired Derrick White in exchange for guards Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford and two first-round picks from the San Antonio Spurs. The 2022 first-round pick was Top-4 protected, and the 2028 first-round pick is Top-1 protected, with the Spurs having rights to swap.

Every year, Derrick White steadily shows his worth to the Celtics. He has made two NBA All-Defensive Second Team selections, and his contributions to the Celtics have been tremendous, as he was a key part in the Celtics' 2024 NBA championship.
