Jacque T. Vaughn is a former professional basketball player and the current head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in the National Basketball Association. Having grown up in complete admiration and passion for Basketball, Vaughn never missed an opportunity to polish and develop his game.

Born and raised in Los Angeles County, California, Vaughn attended John Muir High School and was way more than just impressive as a young basketball athlete. His abilities as an attacking scorer and three-point shooter made him a reliable presence on the team.

As a senior, Vaughn was ranked no.7 high school recruit in the country which showed Vaughn’s abilities and popularity and helped him qualify for the McDonald’s All-American game.

After high school, Vaughn began his career’s new phase by joining the University of Kentucky. Playing for the Kansas Jayhawks, Vaughn immediately began as a starter for his team and played a key role in their success.

He finished his collegiate career with an average of 9.6 points, three boards, 6.4 assists, and 1.3 steals a game and was selected 27th overall in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz.

In February of this year, Vaughn and the Nets had agreed to a multi-year extension which is expected to last till the 2026-27 season.Vaughn was promoted to the head coaching job after former coach Steve Nash was let go by the Nets in the early first half of the 2022-23 regular season.

At the time, there were reports that former Celtics head coach Ime Udoka was up for the job, but the Nets management showed confidence and picked their experienced assistant coach for the position.

In a statement released by the franchise shortly after, Nets General Manager Sean Marks was positive about the franchise’s new direction under its new head coach, stating the effective impact of Coach Vaughn in such a short period.

With Coach Vaughn at the helm, the Nets finished their season 45-37 as the fifth se`ed but got eliminated by the 76ers in the first round of the playoffs.

Vaughn joined the Brooklyn Nets as an assistant coach in 2016 and has worked alongside two head coaches. His guidance over the years has been instrumental in boosting the team’s productivity and potential among both young and experienced talents.

With a capable coach in Jacque Vaughn leading the charge, the Nets will be looking to get over the fifty-win mark this upcoming season and reach the Conference finals to hopefully have a chance at playing in the NBA finals.
