Jason Fredrick Kidd is regarded as one of the all-time great Point guards to play in the NBA and one of the most influential ball-handlers in basketball history. Born in San Francisco, the family relocated to Oakland where Kidd grew up heavily influenced by Basketball.

As a senior at St. Joseph Notre Dame High School, Kidd played phenomenally; averaging 25 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and an uncommon seven steals a game. His contributions led SJND to two consecutive state championships with Kidd winning the title of California Mr. Basketball back to back as well (1991, 1992).

Despite offers from some of the best College programs like Kansas, UCLA, Arizona, Ohio State, and the University of Kentucky, Kidd chose to attend UC Berkeley. Playing for the California Golden Bears, Kidd averaged nearly 15 points, six rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 3.5 steals per contest.

Kid’s arrival at UC Berkeley witnessed a resurgence of their men’s Basketball team where they entered the NCAA tournament two years in a row which included an upset over then-defending champions Duke Blue Devils.

Jason Kidd Height

Jason Kidd stands 6 feet 4 inches tall. As a player, Jason was highly athletic and utilized the benefits of his 6’4 frame to its fullest extent. With a career rebounding average of 6.3, Kidd was a very effective rebounder for a Point guard and utilized other facets of his game just as well to stay ahead of the competition.

Jason Kidd’s Other Physical Attributes

Jason wouldn’t have become one of the most versatile players to play competitive basketball had he not been a highly skilled athlete who used his physical attributes to their absolute potential.

His Weight

As an active player, Jason weighed 205 lbs (92 kg) on average. During his entire basketball career right from High School to the NBA, Jason’s agility was his most dominant factor aside from his Height.

Kidd’s College ball career and his initial NBA seasons are a great example of this. His top-level athleticism combined with impeccable basketball IQ made him a legitimate threat to opposing teams.

His Wingspan

Jason Kidd’s wingspan measures approximately 6 feet 8 inches in length. Jason's long arms made him one of the best perimeter defensive players during his time. Averaging nearly two steals per game for his entire career, it was difficult for opponents to get the ball past him and into the paint.

His efforts on the defensive end earned him four NBA All-Defensive first-team and five NBA All-Defensive second-team selections.

Jason Kidd’s success as a basketball player and his eventual Hall of Fame induction is a product of his dedicated commitment to being a great player and contributor. Although not as impressive as his playing career, his coaching has been excellent as well.
