Last Modified Jun 30, 2023 18:15 GMT

The Miami Heat guard from Illinois U.S. is one of the emerging players in the 2023 playoffs. He averaged 9.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in the playoffs and led the team to advance to the 2023 NBA Finals, where they met the Western Conference champion, Denver Nuggets. In a competitive match series between the two, the Denver Nuggets won the series by 4-1.

Initially, Max went to Amos Alonzo Stagg school for his high school basketball career. As a senior, he averaged 19 points and 9.0 rebounds and was named to play in the All-Southwest Suburban Conference. Later on, he joined Lewis University, the same university his older brother, Marty went to. After playing two seasons with DePaul he declared for the 2019 NBA draft.

Max Strus' past injuries?

Max Strus, the 2019 undrafted player signed a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls. As he begins his NBA journey with the Bulls, in December 2019, while playing against the Lakeland Magic in the NBA G League, he severely tore his Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and bone bruise in his left knee. The injury ruled out Max for a minimum of one year as he was to go down for surgery. Thus, his journey with the Bulls stopped after playing only two games, scoring five points.

The injury went down hard for Max as it was now difficult to regain the previous level of performance and was affecting mobility and creating discomfort.

While playing for the Miami Heat in the second round of the 2023 playoffs, Max Strus landed hard on his back on the basketball floor. He was guarding the New York Knicks guard, Josh Hart, when he drove on toward the rim.

In the incident, Max injured his lower back and got benched for the fourth quarter of Game 2.
