The name Stephen Curry and shooting the basketball are somewhat synonymous in the NBA. The four-time NBA champion is widely regarded as the greatest shooter the game has ever seen. His scoring abilities have been testified to by a plethora of past legends of the game. Steph is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry, and took up the sport very early on after watching his father. The ten-time All-Star with the Golden State Warriors has brought about a change in the current game as more and more 3-pointers are taken than in the previous eras. However, what truly sets Curry apart from the rest is the fact that he can knock down those shots on a much more consistent basis than others.

Referred to as ‘Chef Curry,’ due to his ability to cook opponents with his shooting skills, he has completely changed the dynamics of the modern NBA. Today’s game has evolved so much in this aspect that even big men are not only trying 3-pointers, but they are also draining them. While Curry as an athlete is not blessed with exceptional physical qualities, he has worked very hard at developing his game to reach where he is today. Let us take a look at some of his physical qualities.

Stephen Curry Height

Steph Curry is a 6 foot 2 inch (1.88 m) tall point guard. For a point guard, he is more or less of average height. For Curry, his height does not point to any standout disadvantage as there have been multiple former players shorter than Curry who have gone on to have stellar careers such as John Stockton and Allen Iverson.

Curry’s height allows him to be more nimble on the court. Additionally, his quick release allows him to shoot over any defender with ease. On defense, he can be agile and disrupt passing lanes with his movement.

Stephen Curry Weight

The veteran guard’s weight is listed at 185 lb or 83 kg. In today’s era, the average guard weighs approximately 196 pounds which means that Curry is slightly below that. However, you also need to factor in that Curry is not the tallest guard in the NBA and thus that also has its implications on his weight.

Having said that, the Ohio-born was always a skinny player and even in his college days, he seemed to be underweight. There were certain question marks on whether or not he could make it in the league from the physical standpoint of the game, but the basketball legend has done well to overcome his physical shortcomings by putting in the required efforts to bulk up and get stronger.

Stephen Curry Wingspan

Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, Steph Curry has a wingspan of approximately 6 feet 4 inches. In basketball terms, he does not have a big wingspan, nevertheless, his performance on the court hasn’t been affected as he has found ways to get the job done.

A bigger wingspan in a sport such as basketball can be advantageous in several ways. Firstly, on the offense, more wingspan means it's easier to shoot over tall defenders. Layups and dunks are also easier as the hands tend to get closer to the rim.

On the other hand, while playing defense, a larger wingspan aids in stealing the ball or blocking shots. In general, a player will also have a better reach to disrupt passing lanes.
