Taj Jami Gibson is an American basketball player who plays for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA as of 2024. Gibson’s journey to the NBA started when he joined college basketball at the University of Southern California (USC) where he played for the USC Trojans. A defensive specialist and a good rebounder by trade, Gibson was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 26th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He has been a consistent power forward in the NBA and has been a valuable asset to every team he has played for including the Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards among others.

Gibson was awarded the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, following his college career at USC, where he averaged 12.4 points, 1.4 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game along with 2.4 blocks per game. Upon entering the NBA, he was nominated into the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2010, which set him up for future success in the league. He is well known for his versatility as a player and seamlessly switches roles as a starter, reserve, or even positions, according to the requirements of the team, making him a good fit for any team in the NBA, according to The Oklahoman.
