Thanasis Antetokounmpo currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. He is a Greek-Nigerian player and the older brother of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Thanasis played at the semi-professional level in Greece before being selected by the Delaware 87ers in 2013, a team in the NBA D-League. He has also played in the Spanish league, Liga ACB, where he was able to make a name for himself.

After a successful season in Spain, Thanasis returned to Greece and signed with Panathinaikos. He got many accolades and achievements in the two years he played for the team, including being named MVP of the Greek All-Star game in 2018.

Since 2019, he has been playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and recently signed a one year extension on a veteran minimum deal. He is set to earn just over $2.3 million in the 2023/24 NBA season.

Thanasis’ best performance for the Bucks came in April 2022, when he posted his career-high 27 points and 5 rebounds against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The forward has good size who knows how to use his physicality effectively. The only thing where he lacks is experience in the NBA. With more experience and minutes, he is a player who can help the Bucks make another championship run in the near future.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo's position and number

Thanasis plays at the small forward position and wears number 43 for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Greece national basketball team. He can also play as a power forward when required.

Thanasis was drafted 51st overall by the New York Knicks in 2014 but was soon traded to the Westchester Knicks, an NBA G League team. Some of his strengths include showing great composure in games and finishing strongly in the paint. He is a good two-way player and provides for the team coming off the bench. In 164 NBA games and 8.3 minutes per game, Thanasis has averaged 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, on 50.7% shooting from the field.
