Trae Young is an American professional basketball player currently signed with the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Young was born on September 19, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas, to parents Candice and Rayford Young. His father also played basketball at Texas Tech and as a professional in Europe.

Young attended Norman North High School in Oklahoma and played basketball there. He averaged a whopping 42.6 points per game on 48.9% shooting in his senior season. He was subsequently selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game and was voted the nation's second-best point guard when he graduated from high school.

He committed to playing college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners on February 16, 2017, and finished his freshman season leading the country in points and assists. Young was awarded the Wayman Tisdale Award for being the best freshman in the nation and was the first five-star recruit for the University of Oklahoma since Tiny Gallon in 2010.

Trae Young was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2018 NBA Draft with the fifth overall pick. However, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks that very night. Young is a two-time NBA All-Star, once each a part of the All-NBA Third Team and the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Trae Young Height

Young’s father Rayford once conceded in an interview that being short was in their family bloodline. He was 5'11" on a good day, and his father, Trae's grandfather, was around that height too.
