Edgecombe was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in New York twice in consecutive seasons. He also played in the McDonald's All-American Game and scored nine points and five rebounds. Edgecombe also led the Long Island Lutheran basketball team to the Chipotle National Finals, which was previously referred to as the GEICO Nationals Tournament, where they made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Columbus. Columbus then lost in the semifinals to Montverde Academy, which was led by Baylor signee Robert Wright III.
