5 of the worst Premier League summer signings of the season

#4 Davy Klaassen (Everton)

Everton v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Klaassen playing for Everton

Everton had just sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for a reported £75 million and just like Spurs, following Gareth Bale's transfer, they had a bountiful amount to spend on transfers. Klaassen was signed form Ajax for £24.30 and was supposed to be their prime creator.

The 25-year-old has been performing very well at Ajax and was crucial in their Europa League campaign last year. In 6 years at Ajax, he made 181 appearances and scored 55 goals. He also has 16 caps to his name for the Netherlands national team and was also voted as Dutch Footballer of the Year in 2016.

The main problem he faced at Everton was that they also bought Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney, two players who play a similar role. Unfortunately for him, the other two are more experienced and also has been plying their trade in England for a long time. Thus, Klaassen was overlooked many a time.

He has played only 6 minutes in the league since September which is saddening to say the least, considering his calibre. Klaassen will be looking for a move away if things remain the same this summer.
