TAL Crystal Ball (Gameweek 2 Division 2)

Action from the FC Sparta v FC Brunton game

Gameweek 1 had tons of goals and storylines and we expect the same this week too, but the question is, will the teams live up to the predictor or are they out to prove the famed ‘Crystal Ball’ wrong?

November 12

8:00 AM – Rebels FC v Athlos United

Rebels put in a meek performance in their first game against Titans and will be looking to set things right but coming up against Athlos might make that difficult. Although Athlos lost on the opening day to C2FC, they played a good game and will be on a mission to avenge their loss.

We expect this to be a tight game with high-energy pressing but Athlos might have a slender advantage because of their experience.

Players to watch:

Savin R (Rebels FC)

Tejasvi Karanawal (Athlos United)

Crystal Ball: Rebels FC (1) – (2) Athlos United

9:30 AM – FC Brunton v Diablos FC

Brunton pulled off an exciting comeback win last week against Sparta and will hope to continue their winning form against a wounded Diablos who lost to Mercurial in their opening game. Both teams are promotion hopefuls and the change in turf might help both teams play a free flowing game although we aren’t banking on that. We expect this game to be decided on the strategy boards with bragging rights on the line.

Players to watch:

Sachit Sondhi (FC Brunton)

John Kunnath (Diablos FC)

Crystal Ball: FC Brunton (1) – (2) Diablos FC

7:45 PM – FC Sparta v Mercurial FC

The late kick off has Sparta taking on Mercurial in an evenly matched contest. Sparta threw away a two-goal lead against Brunton last week, to end up on the losing side, while Mercurial showed enough mettle last week to beat Diablos in a tight affair. We expect both teams to put the gas on the pedal from the get-go, especially given the timing of the match which should provide good footballing weather.

Players to watch:

Lalit Braganza (FC Sparta)

Aashish Mane (Mercurial FC)

Crystal Ball: FC Sparta (3) – (3) Mercurial FC

November 13

9:30 AM – Emdee Al-Fateh v Garden Boys FC

Al-Fateh were in incredible form last week when they scored 7 past Kudlu but we expect Garden Boys to put up more of a fight. Garden Boys themselves were victorious last time around when the defeated BFE United by a 4-0 score line but they might have adapt a defensive strategy to cope with the might of Al-Fateh. With the full strength of Al-Fateh expected to show up this week, its hard to pick a result other than in favour of Al-Fateh, but you never know what surprises new teams can throw up.

Players to watch:

Nihal Colaco (Emdee Al-Fateh)

Vishnu Prasad (Garden Boys FC)

Crystal Ball: Emdee Al-Fateh (3) – (1) Garden Boys FC

3:30 PM – C2 FC v Titans FC

The game of the day has C2 FC pitted against Titans FC. Both teams are coming off big wins over good opponents and are early title contenders. C2 FC have loads of practice hours under their belt and are the ideal team to play on the ‘Big Pitch’ while Titans comprises mainly of students who play together as a team for their college. We expect this to be a rollicking affair and in this early stage of the season, might find out which is one is the contender and which one is the pretender.

Players to watch:

Shashwat Tiwari (C2 FC)

Akshay Kukke (Titans FC)

Crystal Ball: C2 FC (2) – (2) Titans FC

7:45 PM – FC Kudlu v BFE United

The final game of GW 2 features Kudlu and BFE United. Both are reeling from losses in their last games but with the games coming thick and fast, there is not time to brood and both of these teams need to come into this game anew. Kudlu have been much improved but whether they can replace Oumar Balde sufficiently well might determine their season. BFE United didn’t look too bad in their opening game even though they lost 4-0 but they will need to adapt to big pitch soon if there are stave off relegation in their first season.

Players to watch:

Nikutten Neroth (FC Kudlu)

Rakendra Thapa (BFE United)

Crystal Ball: FC Kudlu (2) – (1) BFE United
