Liverpool have today confirmed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can, following the completion of minor details and the official opening of the transfer window.
The Reds announced earlier in June that they had reached an agreement with Leverkusen for the transfer of Can, but it was today announced officially via the Reds’ Twitter page.
Emre Can only joined Bayer Leverkusen from Bayern Munich last summer and there had been reports that Munich had a clause in Can’s contract which allowed them to block any potential transfers regarding the midfielder.
However, that was put to bed by the respective parties and after lengthy negotiations, Can joined the Reds for a fee in the region of £10 million.
Can is a versatile player who is capable of playing at full-back or in the centre of midfield. The youngster reportedly had a clause of 12 million euros in his contract which Liverpool activated.
