TAL Season 3(Division 2): Gameweek 7 Preview – TAL “Crystal Ball”

Nihal Colaco and Al-Fateh are in menacing form and are running away from the title. Can any team stop them?

We are in the final gameweek of this calendar year as the festive season is upon us. The game between Al-Fateh and FC Brunton kicks off the action followed by an intriguing clash between Grasshoppers and FCB Sparta. The next game sees Athlos United take on a high flying Titans FC side with the Netbusters-Joras game the final one before lunch. Diablos take on FC Bengal next with FC Lawless and FC Kudlu winding up the action for the day.

8:00 AM: FC Brunton v Al-Fateh

FC Brunton take on an Al-Fateh team in marauding form in the first game of the day. Considering the contrasting forms of the sides, it may not be a surprise if this turns into a mauling for FC Brunton. Given the suspension to one of their key defenders, they will do very well to avoid a beating in this one. Al-Fateh will go into the winter break on top of the standings regardless of results this week but they are not an outfit who will rest on such laurels. Brunton meanwhile, stay put in 8th position after their disappointing defeat last week. This should be a routine victory for the champions elect.

Crystal Ball: FC Brunton 0-3 Al-Fateh

9:30 AM: Grasshoppers FC v FC Sparta Bengaluru

Grasshoppers FC are pitted against FC Sparta Bengaluru in the second game of the morning. Both teams are coming off draws and are locked in mid-table at this point. FCB Sparta showed great resolve in clinching a draw from a losing position and if the same attacking line up is available for this game, they just might give the Grasshoppers defence a run for their money. The Grasshoppers attack in contrast, has looked far from convincing so far and they will need to pull up their socks quickly. This should be a tight game which Sparta are more than capable of winning.

Crystal Ball: Grasshoppers FC 1-2 FC Sparta Bengaluru

11:00 AM: Athlos United v Titans FC

The first blockbuster of the day features Athlos United and Titans FC at 11 AM. Titans are in 2nd place with 12 points and are coming off a superb victory over Diablos FC. Athlos are on 11 points but are way below Titans in 5th place courtesy of goal difference. Athlos were held to a draw by FCB Sparta last week and a similar performance is sure to hand them defeat against a strong Titans outfit. Titans will just want to express the same defensive solidity and attacking threat they displayed against Diablos. The Titans team look to have an edge in this one.

Crystal Ball: Athlos United 1-2 Titans FC

12:30 PM: Joras v Netbusters FC

The last game before lunch sees a resurgent Joras side pit their wits against Netbusters FC. Joras finally snapped their losing streak with a well-deserved win against FC Brunton whereas Netbusters just about managed to eke out a draw against Kudlu. If Joras can maintain their form, this should be three points for them. But given their inconsistent performances, this just might be a good opportunity for Netbusters to make some strides up the table. Joras though, still go in as the favorites for this one.

Crystal Ball: Joras 1-0 Netbusters FC

2:15 PM: Diablos FC v FC Bengal

Third takes on fourth in the first game after lunch as Diablos bid to get their season back on track against FC Bengal. Diablos have fallen from the top of the table to fourth place after a run of poor results in the last two weeks. FC Bengal are hanging on to third place despite two consecutive draws making this a game between two sides trying to recapture top form. FC Bengal still seem reliant on striker Saheed Adeoye for goals and his presence will be very crucial for them to get a result out of this one.

Crystal Ball: Diablos FC 1-1 FC Bengal

3:45 PM: FC Lawless v FC Kudlu

The final game of the day is between FC Lawless and FC Kudlu. FC Lawless were on the wrong end of a hiding by table-toppers Al-Fateh and will look to get over that result at the earliest. That result also sends them back to the bottom of the standings with a lot of ground to make up. FC Kudlu meanwhile, could only manage a draw against Netbusters although they could have won the game. They are now in 10th in a table that is turning out to be a crowded in the middle. It remains to be seen though if the Lawless team has recovered from the damaging defeat which makes Kudlu slight favorites for this encounter.

Crystal Ball: FC Lawless 1-2 FC Kudlu
